Ottawa, ON, Oct. 31, 2022 – 4-H Canada is celebrating Show Your 4-H Colours Day on Nov. 2, as part of 4-H Month. The annual celebration sees youth members, volunteer leaders, alumni, and supporters displaying their pride in being part of this 109-year-old community by wearing green, and lighting up landmarks in their communities.
Show Your 4-H Colours Day is an opportunity for the 4-H community to wear green and come together to showcase the positive impacts the 4-H program is making in Canada and abroad.
Together with our national Show Your 4-H Colours partner, BASF Canada Agricultural Solutions, we encourage members and non-members alike to join the fun and come together to spread awareness and support the great things 4-H’ers are doing in their communities, country, and around the world. This year, more than ever, showing your 4-H colours can help raise funds and awareness.
“We couldn’t be prouder to support 4-H Canada and celebrate the community-building spirit 4-H fosters among youth and adults—a sentiment that is shared across the agriculture industry,” said Jonathan Sweat, Vice President, BASF Canada Agricultural Solutions. “On Nov. 2, we’ll show our 4-H Colours with pride as we join supporters from across the country in honouring the contributions 4-H’ers make every day of the year.”
One way 4-H’ers can celebrate now and throughout the month of November is with a limited-edition fundraising t-shirt and hat available on the 4-H Canada Store. Sales of the “Inspired to Lead” apparel will raise important funds to support the 4-H movement. Provincial organizations will receive $4 from the sale of each item to support meaningful opportunities for youth across Canada, with all remaining proceeds going to the Canadian 4-H Foundation.
Wearing green—and being seen online doing so—will play a special part in raising even more funds this year. 4-H Canada’s Community Engagement & Communications Pillar partner, BASF, has stepped up to show their own commitment to mobilizing Canadians to wear green, celebrate, and give back to 4-H by contributing $1 to 4-H Canada for every retweet on Nov. 2. through their “Retweet to Support” campaign. In addition to social media, Canadians will also see dozens of landmarks lit up in iconic 4-H green on Nov. 2 to commemorate Show Your 4-H Colours Day.
“Show Your 4-H Colours is our annual celebration of 4-H in Canada,” said Shannon Benner, 4-H Canada Chief Executive Officer. “We are extremely proud to work with BASF as both a generous partner, and as participants who show their 4-H pride alongside our members, volunteers, and alumni. Collectively, we’re working towards awareness and building support for the amazing opportunities we continue to give youth members all across Canada.”

Established in 2007, this annual campaign celebrates everything that is 4-H while giving back to 4-H. As a movement, we believe there are countless ways to celebrate 4-H and give back to the program, and we are encouraging members of the 4-H community and beyond to explore how to do that. By wearing green, celebrating, and giving back, you are showing your 4-H colours. Together, we are making a difference in Canadian communities by inspiring youth to “Learn To Do By Doing”.
For over 100 years, 4-H Canada has been one of the most highly respected positive youth development organizations in Canada. 4-H in Canada has over 16,000 members and more than 5,700 volunteer leaders. Our goal is to help young Canadians “Learn To Do By Doing” in a safe, inclusive and fun environment. We believe in nurturing responsible, caring and contributing youth leaders who are committed to positively impacting their communities across Canada and around the world.
