4-H Alberta Reference Guide

Each 4-H Club in Alberta is an individual entity and is responsible for governing itself within what is outlined in the 4-H Alberta Reference Guide. This guide has replaced all non-governance-related policies and procedures as of October 1, 2022. This Reference Guide is to provide operational processes, procedures, and definitions for province-wide consistency when required.

This page contains all documents set out by 4-H Alberta to provide a standard across the province. It is important that individuals and clubs always refer to specific guidelines for various projects/events in which they take part. Clubs, districts and/or regions may have additional policies beyond the 4-H Alberta Reference Guide and the other documents below.

4-H Alberta Reference Guide

The 4-H Alberta Reference Guide has replaced all non-governance-related policies and procedures as of October 2022. This Reference Guide is to provide operational processes, procedures, and definitions for province-wide consistency when required. The introductory paragraph in the guide has more information on how to use the document.

Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct
The 4-H Code of Conduct is a part of the Youth Safety at 4-H in Canada Policies. All those registered with 4-H Alberta must sign the Code of Conduct each year. It applies to all those who participate in any 4-H activities across the country.

Project Standards

4-H Alberta Beef Project Standards
All 4-H members registered in the beef project must follow the requirements as set out by 4-H Alberta in consultation with the 4-H Alberta Beef Advisory Committee (BAC).
4-H Alberta Dairy Project Standards
All Alberta 4-H members registered in the diary project must follow the requirements as set out by 4-H Alberta in consultation with the Project Advisory Committee.
4-H Alberta Equine Project Standards
All projects involving an equine fall under the auspices of the Equine Project Standards. All 4-H members registered in the equine project must follow the requirements as set out by 4-H Alberta in consultation with the Provincial Equine Advisory Committee (PEAC).
4-H Alberta Sheep Project Standards
All 4-H members registered in the sheep project must follow the requirements as set out by 4-H Alberta with consultation with the Provincial 4-H Sheep Advisory Committee.
4-H Alberta Small Livestock Project Standards
All 4-H members registered in the small livestock project must follow the requirements as set out by 4-H Alberta in consultation with the Project Advisory Committee.
4-H Alberta Small Animal Project Standards
All 4-H members registered in the small animal project must follow the requirements as set out by 4-H Alberta in consultation with the Project Advisory Committee.
4-H Alberta Science, Life Skills, Technology and Trade (SALTT) Project Standards
All 4-H members registered in the small animal, life skills, technology and trade projects must follow the project requirements.
Policy # 6.06 – 4-H Alberta Canine Project Policy
All 4-H Alberta members registered in the canine project must follow the requirements as set out by 4-H Alberta.
