CCSI’S Carbon Credit Donation Program

CCSI’S Carbon Credit Donation Program

The 4-H Foundation of Alberta is thrilled to announce a new and exciting partnership with Carbon Credit Solutions Inc. (CCSI). CCSI is an Alberta company and world leader in the field of measuring, reporting, and verifying greenhouse gas emissions.

CCSI’s mission is to enable planet positive solutions by leveraging finance, technology, process and software solutions. Founded in 2008 after developing one of the world’s first software platforms to measure, quantify and aggregate greenhouse gas emissions, CCSI focuses on helping organizations across varied sectors and nations monetize their efforts to improve quality of life while reducing environmental impact.

The CCSI team of experts are deeply invested in ensuring profitable sustainability through diverse practices in sustainable farming, conservation techniques and deploying clean-tech, and renewable energy projects.

Each year, three (3) times a year, CCSI gathers a large pool of carbon credits from Farmers all over Alberta who are using no-till farming practices. After registering these credits with the government, CCSI’s Farmers and Landowners have the option to donate the monies from their carbon credits to the 4-H Foundation of Alberta!  If you’re a Farmer using no-till farming practices, you could qualify. We are very excited to be working with CCSI and would like to encourage interested Farmers to contact them as soon as possible.

Please read our Frequently Asked Questions section below to learn more about the program and how interested donors can get involved:

  1. I am NOT a current Farmer or Landowner in Carbon Credit Solutions Inc.’s program, does my farm qualifies for this program?

If you’re a farmer in Alberta, you could qualify for carbon credits.  CCSI’s program follows the regulations in the Conservation Cropping Protocol created by Alberta Environment. We are here to do the heavy lifting to bring your carbon credits to market.  Visit https://carboncreditsolutions.ca/conservation-cropping/– to see if you qualify and complete the contact us form to have an agent in your area contact you.

2. I am currently a Farmer in the CCSI program, how do I support 4-H in Alberta with my carbon credits?

If you currently receive monies generated by carbon credits on lands you farm, you have the option to donate that money to the 4-H Foundation.  We will send you a letter and payment direction form, prior to issuing your payment.  You can donate any % of the monies. Click here to download the payment direction form and return by email to information@carboncreditsolutions.ca or by fax to 403-948-3353.

3. I am currently a Landowner in CCSI program, how do I support 4-H in Alberta with my carbon credits?

If you currently receive a portion of the monies generated by carbon credits on your land(s), you too have the option to donate that money to the 4-H Foundation.  CCSI will send you a letter and payment direction form, prior to issuing your payment.  You can donate any % of the monies. Click here to download the payment direction form and return by email to information@carboncreditsolutions.ca or by fax to 403-948-3353.

4. What is a carbon credit?

One carbon offset credit represents a one-tonne reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions expressed in CO2e.

5. How does this program work and how do I start generating carbon credits?

As a farmer, your best farming practices could generate carbon credits. No-till farming sequesters carbon dioxide in the soil, helping to mitigate the effects of climate change. You could earn money simply for farming as you already do and contribute to conserving our environment for generations to come.

Direct seeding with minimal discretionary tillage qualifies thousands of farmers for carbon credits and earns them extra revenue. CCSI’s Alberta program is based on the Alberta Environment Conservation Cropping Protocol and rewards farmers for tillage practices that reduce greenhouse gases. Farmers can participate in the market easily by signing up with CCSI. They will process your claim, send you money, and keep it simple!

CCSI has developed carbon credits from more than 10 million acres of Alberta farmland and have helped over 2,800 farmers earn extra revenue from their land. Their process is easy, simple, and successful.

Farmers have the opportunity to generate claims on their no-till land until 2021. CCSI doesn’t tell farmers how to farm, but they do provide excellent service and pay them for credits generated from their qualifying farming practices.

6. How do I donate my carbon credits?

CCSI offers a simple form you sign and return.  This form allows you donate any percentage of your carbon credit monies.

7. Am I required to donate?

As this is a voluntary program, you do not have to donate any % of your carbon credit monies.

8. Is there a limit on the donation I can give?

There is no limit.  You can donate any % of monies you choose.  The 4-H Foundation of Alberta has a minimum donation amount of $20.00 to receive a charitable tax receipt.

9. Is this a one-time donation or a reoccurring donation?

This is a one-time donation for the calendar year 2020.  This means if you are in multiple sales through the 2020 year, you would donate the same % from each sale.  For example, CCSI has sales coming up in January, May and August.  If you generate credits in each of those sales, the form you complete for the first sale would apply to all of the following sales, but only for the 2020 calendar year.

10. When can I expect to receive my charitable tax receipt?

The 4-H Foundation will be issuing your charitable tax receipt within 20 business days of payment from CCSI.  CCSI’s program has registration and sales of credits 3 times per year.  Please call CCSI for more details on our upcoming sale.
