Senior Members Learn, Lead, and Celebrate at 4-H Alberta’s 2025 Spring Senior Symposium!

Westerose, AB – From May 1–4, 2025, 4-H Alberta welcomed 125 Senior Members, 20 Ambassadors, and 10 volunteers/chaperones to Olds College for an inspiring weekend focused on leadership, healthy living, and wellness at this year’s Spring Senior Symposium.

This annual event continues to be a cornerstone in the 4-H Alberta program, helping young leaders gain essential life skills while connecting with peers from across the province. The 2025 edition of the Symposium gave members the opportunity to choose between two specialized programming streams: Health and Wellness or Trip Selection.

Members in the Health and Wellness stream heard from a keynote speaker and participated in a session with a Chartered Professional Accountant. They also had the chance to visit Jungle Farm, where they explored the farm-to-table journey, learned about healthy eating, and even planted their own herb gardens to take home.

Meanwhile, those in the Trip Selection stream engaged in a series of workshops and evaluations to determine recipients of 4-H Alberta’s highly sought-after travel experiences. These experiences include educational trips to Ottawa, Calgary, the Northwest Territories, and across Alberta. A total of 48 members were selected for these awards based on diary points, group participation, peer and facilitator evaluations, and demonstrated enthusiasm throughout the weekend.

Outside of the streams, all delegates came together for a range of shared experiences. From small group rotating sessions to keynote addresses, a lively square dance, and Saturday’s banquet and dance, the weekend offered something for everyone. The 2025 4-H Alberta Ambassadors took on leadership roles throughout the event, serving as emcees and organizing fun activities that energized the entire group.

“Being able to build friendships with other leaders from all over Alberta made this experience one to remember,” said one participant. “I walked away with new ideas, new goals, and a stronger connection to the 4-H community.”

4-H Alberta would like to thank all the dedicated volunteers, facilitators, and sponsors who made the Symposium possible. With programming that builds communication, confidence, responsibility, and leadership, this event remains a shining example of positive youth development in action.
