4-H Alberta Expands Partnership with Federated Co-operatives Limited and Local Alberta Co-ops to grow the CO-OP Growing Leaders Program
In a striking demonstration of innovation in science and technology, Mac Dykeman, a 4-H Canada Science Fair finalist from Langley, BC, took home two awards at the renowned 2023 Canada-Wide Science Fair. The fair took place at the Edmonton Convention Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. Dykeman's project, titled 'An Innovative Approach to Ammonia in Poultry Operations', proposed the use of Prussian Blue or Prussian Blue + Biochar as bedding additives in poultry operations for ammonia adsorption. Her exceptional work in this project earned her the Bronze Senior Excellence Award and the Senior Technology in Agriculture Award, complete with a $1000 cash prize.

2024 Judging Competition Results are in!
On March 8, 2024, the 4-H Alberta Provincial Judging Competition gathered 128 eager members at Lakeland College, Vermillion, for a day of rigorous judging and learning. From evaluating purebred livestock to agricultural products, participants across three age categories showcased their analytical and decision-making prowess. The event highlighted the importance of reasoned judgment and effective communication, core values of the 4-H program. Celebrations and acknowledgments for participants, volunteers, and supporters capped off the day, underlining the community's commitment to nurturing young talent in agriculture.
