Summer is on the horizon!

Over 100 members from across the province attended the 2023 WC Region Horse Show. 131 classes, including Western and English, dance, stall decorating, and team spirit awards.

Fantastic news – the WC Region held yet another successful Regional Heifer Show!

Our proud 4-H members brought their best to the show ring, presenting a breathtaking array of well-groomed, well-behaved heifers. The passion, hard work, and dedication of each participant were evident in every step and turn made by these exceptional heifers.

The success of the WC Region Heifer Show is a testament to the power of our community when we come together, and we couldn’t have done it without each of you. To all participants, parents, leaders, and volunteers who contributed to this achievement, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you.

Mark your calendars for a rewarding day of networking and skill-building at the Lakedell Arena on Sunday, October 15, 2023.

This event provides an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow equine leaders from our region and to refresh your 4-H equine skills. Skills to be discussed range from basic to more advanced such as:

• Saddling & Bridling, Checking Tack, Proper Helmet Fit, Mounting and Dismounting, Body Position, Warm-up, Emergency Stop, Gaits, Rider Focus, Rein Effects, Aids, Riding a Circle, Riding and recognizing Diagonals
• Turn on the Forehand, Turn on the Haunches, Transitions and Half Halt, Halting Rein Back, Leg Yield, Two Track, Sidepass, Lope Departure, Counterbend and Countercanter.

We invite leaders who are comfortable doing so to step forward and facilitate a session or sessions on a topic of their choice. However, this is not mandatory, and you’re welcome to attend without facilitating. Remember, the more facilitators we have, the wider range of skills we can cover. If you’re interested in facilitating a session, please get in touch with Connie Kluczny as soon as possible.

We also welcome auditors to join us for the day. The cost is $30, which covers the day’s activities (10:00 am – 5:00 pm) and includes lunch!
